Spectral Duck

Sidechain that ducks only what actually clashes

The problem with normal sidechain: every time the kick hits, your whole melody gets turned down — air, shimmer, stereo width and all — even though none of that was ever fighting the kick. You either accept a pumping, hollowed-out mix, or you skip sidechaining and let the low end turn to mud.

What Spectral Duck does instead: it listens to your kick, works out which frequencies it’s actually loud at, and ducks only those same frequencies in your melody, bass or pad. Kick living at 50–120 Hz? That’s the only range that moves. Everything above it stays exactly where you put it. You get the space you need and keep the track you wrote.

Think of it as your kick carving its own pocket, instead of a volume knob flattening everything in sight.

Features
Frequency-Specific Ducking Engine

Real-time spectral analysis drives per-frequency gain reduction — deeper where the kick is louder, completely absent where it isn’t
Frequency Amount (0–200%) — scale the spectral ducking independently of your kick’s real level. Push past 100% for more separation without touching the kick itself
Reverse mode — turn the Ratio left past 1:1 and matching frequencies get boosted instead of ducked, for call-and-response and pumping effects

Threshold, Ratio (1:5.0 → 1:1.0 → 30.0:1) and Knee: right for a smooth soft knee, left for a sharp, aggressive grab
Attack (0–1000 ms), Release, and Sustain/hold for shaping the duck envelope
Steep sidechain Low/High Cut — near-brickwall filters decide which part of the kick’s spectrum is even allowed to trigger ducking. Ignore the cymbal bleed, keep the thump

Glue Compressor

A second, fully independent compressor that only touches the frequencies involved in the ducking — nothing else in your track is compressed
Threshold, Ratio, Gain, Attack, Release, its own frequency range, and a 0–100% Dry/Wet Glue knob for exactly as much cohesion as you want

Workflow & Perks

256-band high-resolution analyzer showing the sidechain spectrum, your output, and the live ducking curve — mix by ear and by eye
Auto sidechain detection with built-in protection against a track accidentally sidechaining itself
Up to 4 sidechain inputs — duck one track against several sources, or stack instances with different sources and different settings
18 fully automatable parameters — automation clips, MIDI/controller linking, right-click reset, all native to FL Studio
Latency-compensated and click-free when bypassed, so it’s just as happy live as it is on export
Genuinely light on CPU — the spectral engine sleeps completely when both inputs go silent, costing you nothing on empty patterns
And yes: the duck’s eye lights up every time the sidechain hits

Who it’s for
Producers tired of choosing between “no sidechain” and “my melody just got vacuumed out of the mix.” Trap, house, DnB, pop — any dense arrangement where the kick and the lead are wrestling over the same low-mid real estate.

Set the threshold, dial in Frequency Amount, and let Spectral Duck carve out exactly the room your kick needs. Nothing more.
