Harmonic waveform reconstruction and spectral resynthesis
Format: VST3, CLAP · Category: Spectral FX
WHAT IT DOES
Harmonic Forge rebuilds the shape of your low end out of high frequency
harmonics.
It is not a saturator, an exciter or a bass enhancer. It listens to the actual
waveform of your sub and bass, works out which resonant harmonics that waveform
is made of, and then re-draws that exact same waveform far higher up the
spectrum – using nothing but harmonics of the original note.
Then it hands you the harmonics themselves to play with: how many, how loud,
what phase, how far out of tune, how square, how unstable.
HOW IT WORKS, IN PLAIN TERMS
1 ANALYSE A high cut decides how much of your low end to study. This is an
analysis control only – it never touches what you hear.
2 RESONATE The reference waveform is sliced into up to 100 bands and ranked,
strongest resonance first, exactly the way a vocoder splits a signal.
3 REBUILD The harmonics you selected are re-emitted higher up, each one on its
own harmonic slot inside the frequency range you chose. Amplitude and phase
are tracked at full sample rate, so the envelope, the transients and the
attack of your original bass survive intact.
4 SHAPE Move the phases around, detune the whole harmonic stack, melt the
harmonics into square waves, or let the waveform wobble off course on purpose.
5 MIX Blend against the original with a mix law that does not duck either
side at the centre position.
FEATURES
ANALYSIS
- Low End Range, 0 Hz to 1 kHz. Analysis only, provably inaudible.
- Up to 100 ranked resonant harmonics, strongest first.
- Locked fundamental tracking, so everything stays harmonically related.
RECONSTRUCTION
- Harmonic Source Min / Max: choose exactly which frequency range is allowed
to rebuild your bass, from 100 Hz to 20 kHz. - Harmonic Count 1 to 100. Every harmonic you ask for gets its own frequency
slot – what you dial is what you hear. - EVEN: fade from natural harmonic levels to every harmonic contributing
equally, for a flat, vocoder-like stack.
MOVEMENT AND CHARACTER
- Phase Speed: how quickly phase relationships evolve.
- Phase Tension: compress or expand the phase spacing between harmonics.
- Phase L/R: stereo width built from phase alone, hard-limited so a mono
fold-down can never cancel it. - Detune, +/- 100 cents on the whole harmonic stack at once.
- Digital: blends every harmonic into a band-limited square wave. Alias-free
by design, no oversampling latency. - Wiggle: controlled instability, up to 50 percent deviation, that still
follows the original waveform’s movement.
MIX
- Dry/Wet with no volume compensation: at 50 percent both the original and the
rebuilt signal play at full level. - Output Trim, +/- 24 dB.
- True bypass with a click-free crossfade.
TWO ENGINES, ONE BUTTON
A single unlabelled toggle switches between the original reconstruction
engine and the current one. Two genuinely different flavours of the same
idea, instantly comparable.
