An FFT spectral blur engine with a modulation system underneath it
What it is
Cosmosforge takes your signal into the frequency domain via STFT and lets
you run up to three spectral effects on it – contrast, phase manipulation,
shimmer and more – while a full modulation matrix routes LFOs, a step
sequencer and envelope followers to any parameter in the chain, and a
compander (with masking and AGC) keeps the spectral processing from running
away with your levels.
How it works, in plain terms
Audio is windowed and transformed at a configurable FFT size (256 up to
32768 bins, with selectable overlap and window type) – smaller sizes track
transients tightly, larger ones give finer frequency resolution at the cost
of smear. Three effect slots each get their own frequency range and amount;
speed/freeze, pitch shift, frequency shift, stretch and slide controls sit
above them as global spectral transforms. Everything is modulatable: four
LFOs, a 16-step sequencer, an envelope follower and a macro knob feed an
8-slot matrix that can reach any of twenty-plus destinations.
