Surgical mastering EQ with a mid/side matrix underneath it
What it is
Aether EQ is a mastering-grade equalizer built around a linear-phase mid/side
matrix instead of a single stereo band chain. Every band can be pointed at
left, right, mid, side, or both channels at once, so a single EQ move can
narrow the low end while leaving the top end wide, or carve the side channel
without ever touching the center image.
How it works, in plain terms
A 4-band Linkwitz-Riley crossover splits the signal into a matrix of bands
first, then routes each band through its own mid/side gain pair before
recombining. On top of that sits a musical 5-band tone stack (foundation,
weight, body, texture, presence), a frequency-dependent spatial stage
(Aether) for width and air, and a Color stage that adds a touch of drive
where the EQ curve says it should live.
